1. అఫియకు పుట్టిన బెకోరతు కుమారుడైన సెరోరుకు జననమైన అబీయేలు కుమారుడగు కీషు అను బెన్యామీ నీయుడొకడుండెను. కీషు భాగ్యవంతుడగు ఒక బెన్యా మీనీయుడు.

1. And there is a man of Benjamin, and his name [is] Kish, son of Abiel, son of Zeror, son of Bechorath, son of Aphiah, a Benjamite, mighty of valour,

2. అతనికి సౌలు అను నొక కుమారుడుండెను. అతడు బహు సౌందర్యముగల ¸యౌవనుడు, ఇశ్రాయేలీయులలో అతనిపాటి సుందరు డొకడునులేడు. అతడు భుజములు మొదలుకొని పైకి ఇతరులకంటె ఎత్తు గలవాడు.

2. and he hath a son, and his name [is] Saul, a choice youth and goodly, and there is not a man among the sons of Israel goodlier than he -- from his shoulder and upward, higher than any of the people.

3. సౌలు తండ్రియైన కీషుయొక్క గార్దభములు తప్పిపోగా కీషు తన కుమారుడైన సౌలును పిలిచిమన దాసులలో ఒకని తీసికొనిపోయి గార్దభములను వెదకుమని చెప్పెను.

3. And the asses of Kish, father of Saul, are lost, and Kish saith unto Saul his son, 'Take, I pray thee, with thee, one of the young men, and rise, go, seek the asses.'

4. అతడు పోయి ఎఫ్రాయిము మన్యము తిరిగి షాలిషాదేశమున సంచరింపగా అవి కన బడలేదు. తరువాత వారు షయలీము దేశమును దాటి సంచారము చేసిరి గాని అవి కనబడకయుండెను. బెన్యామీనీయుల దేశము సంచరించి చూడగా అవి దొరకలేదు.

4. And he passeth over through the hill-country of Ephraim, and passeth over through the land of Shalisha, and they have not found; and they pass over through the land of Shaalim, and they are not; and he passeth over through the land of Benjamin, and they have not found.

5. అయితే వారు సూపు దేశమునకు వచ్చి నప్పుడుమనము తిరిగి వెళ్లుదము రమ్ము, గార్దభముల కొరకు చింతింపక, నా తండ్రి మనకొరకు విచారపడు నేమోయని సౌలు తనయొద్దనున్న పనివానితో అనగా

5. They have come in unto the land of Zuph, and Saul hath said to his young man who [is] with him, 'Come, and we turn back, lest my father leave off from the asses, and hath been sorrowful for us.'

6. వాడుఇదిగో ఈ పట్టణములో దైవజనుడు ఒకడున్నాడు, అతడు బహు ఘనుడు, అతడు ఏ మాట చెప్పునో ఆ మాట నెరవేరును. మనము వెళ్లవలసిన మార్గమును అతడు మనకు తెలియజేయునేమో అతని యొద్దకు వెళ్లుదము రండని చెప్పెను.

6. And he saith to him, 'Lo, I pray thee, a man of God [is] in this city, and the man is honoured; all that he speaketh doth certainly come; now, we go there, it may be he doth declare to us our way on which we have gone.'

7. అందుకు సౌలుమనము వెళ్లునెడల ఆ మనిషికి ఏమి తీసికొని పోవు దుము? మన సామగ్రిలోనుండు భోజనపదార్థములు సరి పోయినవి; ఆ దైవజనునికి బహుమానము తీసి కొనిపోవుటకు మన కేమియు లేదు అని తన పనివానితో చెప్పిమనయొద్ద ఏమి యున్నదని అడుగగా

7. And Saul saith to his young man, 'And lo, we go, and what do we bring in to the man? for the bread hath gone from our vessels, and a present there is not to bring in to the man of God -- what [is] with us?'

8. వాడు సౌలుతోచిత్తగించుము, నా యొద్ద పావు తులము వెండి కలదు. మనకు మార్గము తెలియజెప్పినందుకై దానిని ఆ దైవజనుని కిత్తుననెను.

8. And the young man addeth to answer Saul, and saith, 'Lo, there is found with me a fourth of a shekel of silver: and I have given to the man of God, and he hath declared to us our way.'

9. ఇప్పుడు ప్రవక్తయను పేరు నొందువాడు పూర్వము దీర్ఘదర్శియనిపించుకొనెను. పూర్వము ఇశ్రా యేలీయులలో దేవునియొద్ద విచారణ చేయుటకై ఒకడు బయలుదేరినయెడలమనము దీర్ఘదర్శకుని యొద్దకు పోవు దము రండని జనులు చెప్పుకొనుట వాడుక.

9. Formerly in Israel, thus said the man in his going to seek God, 'Come and we go unto the seer,' for the 'prophet' of to-day is called formerly 'the seer.'

10. సౌలునీ మాట మంచిది, వెళ్లుదము రమ్మనగా

10. And Saul saith to his young man, 'Thy word [is] good; come, we go;' and they go unto the city where the man of God [is].

11. వారు దైవజనుడుండు ఊరికి పోయిరి. ఊరికి ఎక్కిపోవుచుండగా నీళ్లుచేదుకొను టకై వచ్చిన కన్యకలు తమకు కనబడినప్పుడుఇక్కడ దీర్ఘ దర్శియున్నాడా అని అడిగిరి.

11. They are going up in the ascent of the city, and have found young women going out to draw water, and say to them, 'Is the seer in this [place]?'

12. అందుకు వారుఇదిగో అతడు మీ యెదుటనే యున్నాడు, త్వరగా పోయి కలిసికొనుడి; యీ దినముననే అతడు ఈ ఊరికి వచ్చెను. నేడు ఉన్నతస్థలమందు జనులకు బలి జరుగును గనుక

12. And they answer them and say, 'He is; lo, before thee! haste, now, for to-day he hath come in to the city, for the people hath a stated sacrifice in a high place.

13. ఊరిలోనికి మీరు పోయిన క్షణమందే, అతడు భోజనము చేయుటకు ఉన్నతమైన స్థలమునకు వెళ్లక మునుపే మీరు అతని కనుగొందురు; అతడు రాక మునుపు జనులు భోజనము చేయరు; అతడు బలిని ఆశీర్వదించిన తరువాత పిలువ బడినవారు భోజనము చేయుదురు, మీరు ఎక్కిపొండి; అతని చూచుటకు ఇదే సమయమని చెప్పిరి.

13. At your going in to the city so ye do find him, before he doth go up in to the high place to eat; for the people do not eat till his coming, for he doth bless the sacrifice; afterwards they eat, who are called, and now, go up, for at this time ye find him.'

14. వారు ఊరిలోనికి రాగా ఉన్నతమైన స్థలమునకు పోవుచున్న సమూయేలు వారికి ఎదురుపడెను.

14. And they go up in to the city; they are coming in to the midst of the city, and lo, Samuel is coming out to meet them, to go up to the high place;

15. సౌలు అచ్చటికి రేపు వచ్చునని యెహోవా సమూ యేలునకు తెలియజేసెను.

15. and Jehovah had uncovered the ear of Samuel one day before the coming of Saul, saying,

16. ఎట్లనగానా జనుల మొఱ్ఱ నాయొద్దకు వచ్చెను, నేను వారిని దృష్టించి యున్నాను; కాగా ఫిలిష్తీయుల చేతిలోనుండి నా జనులను విడిపించుటకై నా జనులైన ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల మీద వానిని అధికారినిగా అభిషేకించుటకుగాను రేపు ఈ వేళకు నేను బెన్యామీను దేశములోనుండి ఒక మనుష్యుని నీయొద్దకు రప్పించుదును.

16. 'At this time tomorrow, I send unto thee a man out of the land of Benjamin -- and thou hast anointed him for leader over My people Israel, and he hath saved My people out of the hand of the Philistines; for I have seen My people, for its cry hath come in unto Me.'

17. సౌలు సమూయేలునకు కనబడగానే యెహోవాఇతడే నేను నీతో చెప్పిన మనిషి ఇదిగో ఇతడే నా జనులను ఏలునని అతనితో సెలవిచ్చెను.

17. When Samuel hath seen Saul, then hath Jehovah answered him, 'Lo, the man of whom I have spoken unto thee; this [one] doth restrain My people.'

18. సౌలు గవినియందు సమూయేలును కలిసికొనిదీర్ఘదర్శి యిల్లు ఏది? దయచేసి నాతో చెప్పుమని అడుగగా

18. And Saul draweth nigh to Samuel in the midst of the gate, and saith, 'Declare, I pray thee, to me, where [is] this -- the seer's house?'

19. సమూయేలు సౌలుతోనేనే దీర్ఘదర్శిని, ఉన్నతమైన స్థలమునకు నాకుముందు వెళ్లుడి, నేడు మీరు నాతో కూడ భోజనము చేయవలెను, రేపు నీ మనస్సులో నున్న దంతయు నీకు తెలియజేసి నిన్ను వెళ్లనిచ్చెదను.

19. And Samuel answereth Saul and saith, 'I [am] the seer; go up before me into the high place, and ye have eaten with me to-day, and I have sent thee away in the morning, and all that [is] in thy heart I declare to thee.

20. మూడు దినముల క్రిందట తప్పిపోయిన నీ గార్దభములనుగూర్చి విచారపడకుము, అవి దొరికినవి. ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల అభీష్టము ఎవరియందున్నది? నీ యందును నీ తండ్రి యింటి వారియందును గదా అనెను.

20. As to the asses which are lost to thee this day three days, set not thy heart to them, for they have been found; and to whom [is] all the desire of Israel?' is it not to thee and to all thy father's house?'

21. అందుకు సౌలు నేను బెన్యామీనీయుడను కానా? నా గోత్రము ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల గోత్రములలో స్వల్పమైనదికాదా? నా యింటి వారు బెన్యామీను గోత్రపు ఇంటివారందరిలో అల్పులు కారా? నాతో ఈలాగున ఎందుకు పలుకుచున్నావు? అనెను.

21. And Saul answereth and saith, 'Am not I a Benjamite -- of the smallest of the tribes of Israel? and my family the least of all the families of the tribe of Benjamin? and why hast thou spoken unto me according to this word?'

22. అయితే సమూయేలు సౌలును అతని పనివానిని భోజనపు సాలలోనికి తోడుకొనిపోయి, పిలువబడిన దాదాపు ముప్పది మందిలో ప్రధానస్థలమందు వారిని కూర్చుండబెట్టి

22. And Samuel taketh Saul, and his young man, and bringeth them in to the chamber, and giveth to them a place at the head of those called; and they [are] about thirty men.

23. పచనకర్తతోనేను నీ దగ్గరనుంచుమని చెప్పి నీ చేతికి ఇచ్చిన భాగమును తీసికొని రమ్మనగా

23. And Samuel saith to the cook, 'Give the portion which I gave to thee, of which I said unto thee, 'Set it by thee?'

24. పచనకర్త జబ్బను దాని మీదనున్న దానిని తీసికొనివచ్చి సౌలు ఎదుట ఉంచగా సమూయేలు సౌలుతో ఇట్లనెనుచూడుము, మనము కలిసికొను కాలమునకై దాచియుంచ బడిన దానిని నీకు పెట్టియున్నాడు, జనులను పిలిచితినని నేను పచనకర్తతో చెప్పినప్పుడు ఇది నీకొరకుంచవలసినదని చెప్పితిని. ఆ దినమున సౌలు సమూయేలుతో కూడభోజనముచేసెను,

24. (and the cook lifteth up the leg, and that which [is] on it, and setteth before Saul), and he saith, 'Lo, that which is left; set [it] before thee -- eat, for to this appointed season it is kept for thee, saying, The people I have called;' and Saul eateth with Samuel on that day.

25. పట్టణస్థులు ఉన్నతమైన స్థలముమీదనుండి దిగుచుండగా సమూయేలు సౌలుతో మిద్దెమీద మాటలాడు చుండెను.

25. And they come down from the high place to the city, and he speaketh with Saul on the roof.

26. మరునాడు తెల్లవారునప్పుడు సమూయేలుమిద్దెమీదనున్న సౌలును పిలిచి నేను నిన్ను సాగనంపుటకై లెమ్ము అని చెప్పగా సౌలు లేచెను. తరువాత వారిద్దరు బయలుదేరి

26. And they rise early, and it cometh to pass, at the ascending of the dawn, that Samuel calleth unto Saul, on the roof, saying, 'Rise, and I send thee away;' and Saul riseth, and they go out, both of them -- he and Samuel, without.

27. ఊరి చివరకు వచ్చు చుండగా సమూయేలు సౌలుతోమనకంటె ముందుగా వెళ్లుమని యీ పనివానితో చెప్పుము; దేవుడు సెలవిచ్చినది నేను నీకు తెలియజెప్పువరకు నీవు ఇక్కడ నిలిచి యుండుమనెను; అంతట వాడు వెళ్లెను.

27. They are going down in the extremity of the city, and Samuel hath said unto Saul, 'Say to the young man that he pass on before us (and he passeth on), and thou, stand at this time, and I cause thee to hear the word of God.'
